Connecting Google Drive to Donate Office Charity CRM

Guides

Don’t want to rely on local file storage? With our new Google Drive integration, you can now securely connect your Google account and store files directly in your Drive — freeing up your Donate Office storage space and making it easier to manage your documents in one place.

Follow the steps below to connect Google Drive to your Donate Office account.

Step 1: Create a Google Cloud Project

  1. Go to the Google Cloud Console.

  2. Click Select Project or Create New Project.

  3. Give your project a name (for example: Donate Office) and click Create.

  4. Once created, make sure your new project is selected at the top.

Step 2: Enable the Google Drive API

  1. In the left-hand menu, go to APIs & Services → Library.

  2. Search for Google Drive API.

  3. Click Enable to activate the API for your project.

Step 3: Create OAuth 2.0 Credentials

  1. Navigate to APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID.

  2. If prompted, configure the consent screen first:

    • User Type: External

    • Fill in App name, Support email, and Authorized domains (use your Donate Office app domain — e.g. app.donateoffice.co.uk or localhost for testing).

    • Click Save.

  3. Once saved, go back to APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen.

    • Under Test users, add the email addresses of users who need access (or your own email).

Step 4: Create the OAuth Client ID

  1. From the top-left menu, go to APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID.

  2. Choose:

    • Application type: Web application

    • Name: Donate Office

  3. Under Authorized redirect URIs, add your Donate Office redirect link:

    https://app.donateoffice.co.uk/google/redirect

(Replace the domain if you are running your app on a different URL.)

  4. Click Create — you’ll now see your Client ID and Client Secret.

  5. Copy and save both keys safely.

Step 5: Connect in Donate Office

  1. Go to your Donate Office Settings → Integrations → Google Drive.

  2. Enter your Client ID and Client Secret.

  3. Click Connect to Google Drive and follow the on-screen authorisation steps.

Once connected, any files you upload within Donate Office will be stored directly in your Google Drive account.
